Gibeault Family

Rain. Rain. More rain. Typical August weather in Seattle. Gotta love the Pacific Northwest! Made for some easy lighting though! I had a wonderful, though slightly damp, day with the Gibeault family. I also shot with a Nikon for the first time since I was a sophomore…and I now know why I never bought one! I am very grateful for having amazing friends who lend me their camera while mine is being repaired. Only a few more weeks!

Enjoy!

P.S. I think some of the pictures look a little blown out on the blog. It must not like my editing, I’m trying to find a way to fix it! :)

Wolbert Family

I love the Wolberts! I work with Tiffany, and she is super cute! I also love her kid. He is just so charming! He has the greatest hair of any baby I’ve ever met…ever. We had tons of fun at the park, and their pictures are adorable!

Jordie…again!

Well, I’m sure we all remember Jordie…the cutest little sister ever. And the best model I have! She has such a cute face, I just have to take her places and take her picture! She’s been my favorite subject when testing for new places and poses. She’s been my best buddy when trying new effects in Photoshop. She’s been a great accomplice when we get into trouble on the adventures that take us to these things :) I’m going to miss making her come with me having her beautiful face all over my desktop next year, when sadly, she’ll no longer be a  senior! So here’s to one last senior portrait session with Jordie! Enjoy her cuteness!

Outdoors!

I love my studio, I really do. But I love love LOVE being outside too. And taking pictures outside, is the best. Especially when there’s an eight year old boy who loves to run and jump, and generally have fun! Isaiah just turned eight and had his grandma and older brother with him to celebrate, so he was just ecstatic! We explored the old barn behind their home, which was covered in vines and lit by afternoon sun, does this sound like heaven to anyone else? I was in heaven! I am so ready for outdoor photography to start up again! Here’s to summer!

Ethan

Can you take a moment and just look at this kid’s hair? I’ll wait…how amazing is that? He has the cutest hair of any baby I’ve ever seen! His little tongue was popping in and out of his mouth the whole time, and he refused to fall asleep! Even with the warm lights, a diaper change, a bottle, and dad bouncing him, he still wouldn't fall asleep! So when it came time for the hanging/posing pictures I was a little worried, but he was such a champ!

…and if you think his shirt may be lying, check the next photo. Totally not posed. This kid rocked devil fingers at the photoshoot, and he’s 6 weeks old :)

And seriously, I can’t get over that hair!

Holmes

I took these pictures in December, and haven’t gotten the opportunity to blog about it yet! I seriously need to get my act together :)

This was one of the craziest nights! It was only three days after Christmas, and we met at great grandma’s retirement home. The family called the home a couple weeks before we had the photoshoot, and asked them if we could be there, and if there was any scheduling conflict. They said no, we’d have the place to ourselves. So I walk in the front doors, carrying my giant lighting bag, a metal chair, a wooden stool, and a Rubbermaid box of cables and backdrops. I was making a lot of noise, and I probably looked like a one man band. I walked straight into the middle of a concert with 50-75 people who lived at the retirement home looking at me. I was pretty freaked out to say the least. I had no idea what to do, or where to go! Finally the family showed up, and they had no idea that a concert was going on. The place they wanted to take the picture, a big picturesque staircase in the middle of the room, was the backdrop of the concert, so no way we can shoot there. The two hour concert was only half way over. We ended up choosing a nice marbled wall near the fireplace. It was off to the side of the concert, so all of these elderly people are staring right at us taking the pictures. One sweet old lady wouldn’t stop talking about how much she loved her grandkids, and how much she wanted to call them and get their pictures taken too. Then there was another not so sweet old lady who kept telling me the lights were in her eyes, and she was going to “"get Jennifer,” if I didn’t stop. No idea who Jennifer was, but luckily for us, she never came! The pictures turned out really adorable, even if the actual shoot was awkward, and I’m not gonna lie, a little bit terrifying! I did have lots of fun, thanks for letting me shoot you Holmes Fam!

Styles

Fun post today! I love all of the different “styles” of photography out there. You see some really fun images that would look really dull without some added Photoshop oomph. I usually stick with a boost of color, and contrast, but sometimes it’s fun to have some pretty out there stuff! I don’t know what you like, as a client, so I’m showing you what I can do! Its like a value menu for your photos! I’m not limited to these nine styles, I can do more! I can copy a style of photo that you’ve seen, or one you’ve thought up! I definitely don’t want you to limit your creativity in the photos just because I didn’t have the style you wanted on here, it’s called custom photography for a reason! Anything is possible (that sounded a lot less cheesy in my head!)

butterscotch vintage

Has a vintage look, slightly hazy. Adds whimsy to your photo, while still making it a favorite on the family picture wall!

Teaparty Pink

Very quirky and cute! A favorite for girls, especially baby girls! A great style for scrapbookers!

Autumn Glow

Fleeting warmth, and bold warm colors. This is fun for couples and families alike!

B&W Spledor

A kick up from your basic black & white! Skin benefits from the added coloring, makes anyone look flawless!

kiss of sun

A look of summer without actually being there! The day this picture was taken it was overcast and a little rainy! Sunspots vary with every picture.

coffee & cream

Sunny and light, this style looks great in every picture. From portraits to landscapes. Families, couples, babies and seniors!

news

Very funky look. Added noise, burnt edges and de-saturated, selective coloring makes for a fun, and old time look. Makes pictures look like you took them years ago!

ocean fog

Fun, beachy look; Just after the sets on a sunny day by the ocean.

TEA LEAVES

This may be my favorite style, striking and artsy, brings an added quality  to outdoor photos, and bumps up the contrast in studio looks.
